The Centre for Gender Studies & Advocacy, University of Ghana, has announced an\u00a0Ama Ata Aidoo Short Story Competition\u00a0as part of its 10th Anniversary Celebration.<\/p>\n
This competition will be in honour of Professor Ama Ata Aidoo for her multiple roles as a pan-African feminist, an author, poet and playwright.<\/p>\n
Prospective entrants into the competition must be an African and registered student of the University of Ghana or must have graduated within the past five years (2011-2016).<\/p>\n
Each participant will be expected to submit\u00a0three copies\u00a0of a full-length original unpublished short story with a\u00a0maximum 5000 words.<\/p>\n
The winner of this competition will be awarded a laptop and airtime on a radio station and the two runners up will each receive a tablet.<\/p>\n
Aside this, the ten best stories will receive publishing deals.<\/p>\n
The 3 prize winners will be announced on August 10, 2016. The prizes will presented at a ceremony to be held in honour of Prof. Ama Ata Aidoo on August 27, 2016.<\/p>\n
The story should have a strong female protagonist, must be\u00a0typed,\u00a0double spaced\u00a0and in\u00a0Times New Roman 12 point font.<\/p>\n

She was also a Minister of Education under the Jerry Rawlings administration.<\/p>\n Aidoo’s works of fiction notably focus on with the tension between Western and African world views.
