{"id":201883,"date":"2016-03-26T10:40:20","date_gmt":"2016-03-26T10:40:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=201883"},"modified":"2016-03-26T10:40:20","modified_gmt":"2016-03-26T10:40:20","slug":"fire-guts-vodafone-gra-offices-in-bawku","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/03\/fire-guts-vodafone-gra-offices-in-bawku\/","title":{"rendered":"\u00a0Fire guts Vodafone, GRA offices in Bawku"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Vodafone and Ghana Revenue Authority offices in the Bawku Municipality of the Upper East Region, were\u00a0gutted by fire on Friday evening resulting in extensive damage of the two structures and some documents.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-201887\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/IMG-20160326-WA0012-Copy.jpg\" alt=\"IMG-20160326-WA0012 - Copy\" width=\"480\" height=\"483\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Items including documents, computers and connectivity network of Vodafone\u00a0 worth millions of cedis have been completely destroyed.\u00a0As a result, Vodafone subscribers can not\u00a0make or receive calls, and no transaction with the GRA can be carried out.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-201890\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/IMG-20160326-WA0014.jpg\" alt=\"IMG-20160326-WA0014\" width=\"480\" height=\"462\" \/><\/p>\n<p>According to an eyewitness, Mumuni Abdul-Karim Wuni, it took the Ghana National Fire service in Bawku\u00a0 between 3-4 hours\u00a0 to put the fire under control because they had only one fire tender, which\u00a0at a point run out of water and had to move several meters in search for water.<\/p>\n<p>He said the police and additional fire fighters\u00a0came to put the fire under control.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Mumuni lamented that, some of the assets\u00a0lost to the fire could have been rescued\u00a0if the municipality had more than one fire tender,\u00a0and appealed to government to add some fire tenders to augment the situation.<\/p>\n<p>Efforts made to get the Bawku municipal fire service to speak on the matter proved futile.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>By: Frederick Awuni\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Vodafone and Ghana Revenue Authority offices in the Bawku Municipality of the Upper East Region, were\u00a0gutted by fire on Friday evening resulting in extensive damage of the two structures and some documents.
