Security has been intensified along Ghana\u2019s border with Burkina Faso in the wake of the recent upsurge in terror attacks in the sub-region.<\/p>\n
The National Security Council has already warned that terrorists groups are plotting to unleash attacks within countries in the West African sub-region.<\/p>\n
[contextly_sidebar id=”W3W7mvQaA2Q34SlRha9aV3RAp9IsU9lM”]The Council said based on intelligence from other agencies, it has every reason to believe that some countries including Ghana are at risk.<\/p>\n
Speaking to Citi News<\/strong> the Bawku Divisional Police Commander Chief Superintendent Tefutor Kaledzi explained that\u00a0the communities along the border have a role to play in ensuring security hence the need for sensitization.<\/p>\n \u201cThe Security Council has embarked on sensitization around the border where we toured the whole length of the border between Burkina Faso and Ghana. We also went to the secondary school and sensitized them on what to do in case they see any strange person around the area.\u201d<\/p>\n Aside the sensitization efforts, the number of security personnel has also been increased around the borders to quell any potential threat.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019ve also augmented our number, the number of police officers and military officers around the borders so as at now there is no threat and we are hoping that the citizens along the border will cooperate with us and report any suspicious character to us,\u201d\u00a0Chief Superintendent Kaledzi revealed.<\/p>\n He also assured that the police and the army are well equipped to deal with any external threats from that side of the country.<\/p>\n \u201cFor now I can\u2019t say that we have all the equipment but we are sufficient to be able to handle any attack or any insurgence that will occur at the border.\u201d<\/p>\n –<\/p>\n By Delali Adogla-Bessa\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Security has been intensified along Ghana\u2019s border with Burkina Faso in the wake of the recent upsurge in terror attacks in the sub-region.
