The Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo), has assured the public that measures have been put in place to mitigate the impact on power supply following\u00a0the shutdown of the FPSO Kwame Nkrumah.<\/p>\n
[contextly_sidebar id=”HisggTPKs2RKDw84zsKabxMKdIzFYgNY”]According to GRIDCo, the Volta River Authority (VRA) has purchased enough light crude oil to power some of the thermal plants within the Aboadze power enclave in the Western Region.<\/p>\n
This assurance follows the shutdown of the FPSO Kwame Nkrumah on Sunday,\u00a0for\u00a0mandatory inspection and maintenance works for two weeks.<\/p>\n
GRIDCo earlier in a statement copied to Citi Business News<\/strong> said, the transmission system may experience some challenges which may affect power supply stability due to the conversion of all dual fuel thermal plants to run on light crude oil.<\/p>\n But in an interview with Citi Business News, <\/strong>the\u00a0<\/strong>Chief Executive Officer of the GRIDCo, Engineer William Amuna, said their engineers are working hard to complete the conversion in the next two to three days.<\/p>\n \u201cWhat we are doing is that, we are trying to ensure that all plants run on light crude oil. Already some of them are running on the light crude oil and the engineers are working around\u00a0the clock to ensure that the rest also run on light crude oil. We are just hoping that should be done in the next couple of days like within the next two to three days.
