The Kpandai Senior High School in the Northern Region marked their 25th anniversary with its first speech and prize giving day.

The anniversary was used to award deserving students and non-teaching staff who have distinguished themselves and dedicated their service to the school since its establishment.

The school was established on January 28, 1991 with 31 students, but its student population has grown remarkably since then.

Speaking at the speech day ceremony, the headmaster of the school, Richard Sibeko, bemoaned the lack of infrastructure development at the school despite the 25 year milestone.

“I am constrained as far as structures are concerned,” he stated as he explained the pressure on the school’s facilities.

According to Mr. Sibeko, some of the classrooms have been converted into dormitories because of lack of space for the students.

“The building housing the girls is in a very deplorable state. Most of the facilities are over stretched. I have been forced to convert some of my dormitories to house some boys and girls.”

He noted that there are some ongoing Ghana Education Trust fund (Getfund) infrastructure projects but they are moving at a “snail speed”.

“An 8-room GETfund girl’s dormitory started in 2010 but was only roofed about a month ago and another five room dormitory is only at foundation level,” he revealed.

Mr. Sibeko is of the view that if he does not voice out his concerns, nobody will come to the school’s aid.

“I am sharing this litany of challenges that I have because if I don’t cry, nobody will come to my assistance.”
