Governor of the Bank of Ghana (BoG), Dr. Henry Kofi Wampah, has expressed shock over the arrest of David McDermott, an alleged drug baron, who is married to his daughter.<\/p>\n
The British High Commissioner to Ghana, Jon Benjamin on Saturday\u00a0confirmed the arrest of David McDermott, an alleged drug baron, who has been on the run for about three years and is reported to be married to Ramona Wampah.<\/p>\n

A statement signed by the Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr. Henry A. K. Wampah\u00a0on March 13, 2016 and copied to Citi Business News,<\/strong> said “until I received information about his arrest, I had absolutely no knowledge about David being a fugitive of the British government”.<\/p>\n According to Dr. Wampah, he knew David to be a worker in the mining industry and was shocked about his arrest.<\/p>\n “I have received news about the arrest of David McDermott, who is married to my step daughter, Ramona, with shock.\u00a0David has been known to me as a worker in the mining sector and has been living in the country with Ramona since their marriage some three years ago,” He said.<\/p>\n David McDermott, of Ormskirk, West Lancashire, was being hunted by the\u00a0National Crime Agency\u00a0and was finally arrested on Friday Morning in an international sting operation at his home in the affluent Burma Hills in Accra this week.<\/p>\n The British High Commissioner to Ghana, commended the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) for the role they played in arresting McDermott.<\/p>\n Citi News<\/strong> investigations have also revealed that extradition process to get McDermott back to the UK for trial is likely to start on Monday.
