{"id":197998,"date":"2016-03-11T06:00:31","date_gmt":"2016-03-11T06:00:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=197998"},"modified":"2016-03-11T06:00:31","modified_gmt":"2016-03-11T06:00:31","slug":"constance-swaniker-opens-ghanas-1st-arts-design-institute","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/03\/constance-swaniker-opens-ghanas-1st-arts-design-institute\/","title":{"rendered":"Constance Swaniker opens Ghana\u2019s 1st Arts and Design Institute"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After 22 years of practical experience in the metal and craft industry, the Accents &amp; Art Limited (AAL), has launched the Art and Design Institute (ADI), to provide a platform for students to gain industry experience by working closely with artisans on a factory floor.<\/p>\n<p>The Art &amp; Design Institute (ADI) is the engineering and design practice hub at Accents &amp; Art Limited (AAL).<\/p>\n<p>The AAL has provided quality training and internship opportunities to hundreds of students from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science &amp; Technology (KNUST), Takoradi &amp; Koforidua Polytechnics and many other technical institutions across the country.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-large wp-image-198004 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/Arts-1-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"Arts 1\" width=\"620\" height=\"465\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-large wp-image-198006 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/Arts-3-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"Arts 3\" width=\"620\" height=\"465\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Founder, Ms. Constance Elizabeth Swaniker, told <strong>Citi News<\/strong> in an interview that the lack of requisite skills demonstrated by students from these institutions motivated her to envision this worthy project.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are setting this up as an alternative to students who would want to go into arts and design instead of going to a tertiary institution and then coming back into the field. You find a lot of students who say I studied this because my parents didn\u2019t want me to be a fashion designer. So we created this school of international standard so that students will be able to explore their full potentials.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-large wp-image-198008 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/Arts-5-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"Arts 5\" width=\"620\" height=\"465\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Launching the institute, General Overseer of the International Central Gospel Church, (ICGC), Dr. Mensa Otabil, lauded the initiative as a venture that would go a long way in improving the artistry industry in the country.<\/p>\n<p>He expressed the hope that students will be challenged to push for their dreams instead of giving up.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-large wp-image-198007 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/Arts-4-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"Arts 4\" width=\"620\" height=\"465\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In November 2014, the institute graduated 120 students in health and safety, engineering, entrepreneurship and product design.
