The President of the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS), Michael Paa- Quecy Adu, has asked all principals and school heads\u00a0collecting utility bills from their students to refund the monies immediately or face the Union\u2019s wrath.<\/p>\n
[contextly_sidebar id=”zPSJCIA7vtbNOKBIZx5kFs3h402jJHHo”]Addressing the Teacher Trainees Association of Ghana (TTAG) at its 21st<\/sup> general assembly, Paa Quecy Adu said, \u201cI am warning them to stop collecting utility bills from students or we will come after them. Government cannot renege on its responsibility and pass same to students.”<\/p>\n According to him, it is the responsibility of the employer which is government to provide resources for heads of these institutions who will also subsequently provide services to the customer, \u201cwe the students of Ghana are the customers,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n \u201cIf a student could not pay his fees for a term or two, the student does not go to the government or PRINCOF chairman or the principal to say that principal this term I have not been able to pay my fees so pay some for me; it does not happen\u201d. \u201cIt is not that we won\u2019t pay, the fact is that we can\u2019t pay, that is why we say we won\u2019t pay,” he reiterated.<\/p>\n On his part, the President of TTAG, Tagbor Sampson, recounted the plight of level 300 students who are on teaching practice, \u201cMr. chairman, in fact teacher trainees in the level 300 who are rendering important services to the nation are looked upon with blind eyes by the government. It is through remuneration that the labourer puts in his \/ her maximum best in the discharge of his \/ her duties. We are not by this saying that we teacher trainees have relented on our services to the nation but we are rather tempted to say government has been unfair to us in terms of our welfare\u201d.<\/p>\n Mr. Tagbor Sampson quoted the president of Ghana H. E.
