height=\"337\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Ashanti Region<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The 59<sup>th<\/sup> Independence Day celebration was observed at the various regional and district capitals throughout the country.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In the Ashanti region, correspondent, Lauretta Tima reported that hundreds participated in the parade which was held at the Jubilee Park.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">She said the event had in attendance, the regional minister, Alexander Ackon, Metropolitan Chief Executive of Kumasi, Kojo Bonsu, Ashanti regional police commander, DCOP Kofi Boakye among others.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Central Region<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-196657 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/indece-in-central-region-4_533x400.jpg\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">In the Central Region, <strong>Citi News<\/strong>\u2019 correspondent, Akwasi Koranteng reported that school children drawn from over 55 schools in the Agona West Municipality converged on\u00a0the Agona Sports stadium to mark the celebration.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-196655 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/indece-in-central-region-2_533x400.jpg\" alt=\"indece in central region (2)_533x400\" width=\"533\" height=\"400\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He said the schools included 28 primary schools, 19 JHS and 5 SHS who marched in honour of their country.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">The MCE of Agona West used\u00a0the occasion to tout government\u2019s achievements in the educational sector.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Northern \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In the Nanumba North District of\u00a0the Northern Region, the District Director of Education, Hajia Alima Friko, bemoaned the effect of the imposition of curfew on the town on education.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-196651 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/indendence-day-in-nanumba-9_533x400.jpg\" alt=\"indendence day in nanumba (9)_533x400\" width=\"533\" height=\"400\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Citi News\u2019 correspondent<\/strong>, Aminu Mohammed quoted Hajia Alima as saying the curfew affected the performance of pupils in the district in last year\u2019s BECE results.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-196650 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/indendence-day-in-nanumba-8_533x400.jpg\" alt=\"indendence day in nanumba (8)_533x400\" width=\"533\" height=\"400\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">She revealed that the district\u2019s overall performance was nothing to write home about and attributed it to the curfew.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-196649 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/indendence-day-in-nanumba-7_533x400.jpg\" alt=\"indendence day style=\"text-align: justify;\">The district in the 2013\/2014 academic year was 5<sup>th<\/sup> in the whole country with a pass rate of 71.65%, but the story is different in last year&#8217;s performance.
