{"id":195238,"date":"2016-03-02T19:17:36","date_gmt":"2016-03-02T19:17:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=195238"},"modified":"2016-03-02T19:17:36","modified_gmt":"2016-03-02T19:17:36","slug":"abraham-attah-responds-to-critics-of-his-speech","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/03\/abraham-attah-responds-to-critics-of-his-speech\/","title":{"rendered":"Abraham Attah responds to critics of his speech"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Fast-rising young Ghanaian actor, Abraham Attah, has taken to social media platform Instagram, to respond to reports that some media personalities are making mockery of his grammar at the\u00a0Film\u00a0Independent Spirit Awards in the United States, where he picked up another award for his role in the movie, &#8216;Beasts of No Nation&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The 15-year old\u00a0picked up the\u00a0award for the best male lead for his star-making performance as Agu in the much-talked about Netflix production &#8216;Beasts of No Nation&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;nZ9jx2J3yZl0jDNsX8PThy9xZOpcw6y3&#8243;]Attah&#8217;s acceptance speech after the awards, has been replayed by a few radio stations, with some\u00a0radio personalities like Jay Foley, Lexis Bill and MzGee, reportedly\u00a0making comments to suggest that the young boy was trying to change his accent,\u00a0or that his grammar was bad.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The media personalities specifically\u00a0mocked Attah&#8217;s pronunciation of \u00a0&#8216;Thank You&#8217;, according to reports.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Joy FM&#8217;s Lexis Bill, has since taken responsibility and apologized after public backlash on social media. Lexis Bill however explained that he did not intend to mock the young man whose exploits he equally acknowledges.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Attah&#8217;s response<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Attah, who is quite active on social media, took to his Instagram platform to respond to the development.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In a rather soft post, the young boy whose rise to fame has shocked many, explained that he was not prepared to deliver a speech because he had no conviction that he would win the award.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cl know that some of the radio presenters in Ghana are saying I gave a bad speech at the independent spirit awards. They don&#8217;t know what happen to me. I thought was not going to win so I decided not to write any speech down. I was so surprise when she mention my name. I didn&#8217;t know what to say when I went up there.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-195267\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/attah.jpg\" alt=\"attah\" width=\"600\" height=\"574\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Attah also expressed gratitude to &#8216;Beasts of No Nation&#8217; director, Cary Fukunaga, for the role he played in his meteoric rise.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThank you to my friend Cary fukunaga. You changed my life when you picked me to play Agu. Thank you for all your help and guidance on this journey.
