{"id":194584,"date":"2016-03-01T12:02:56","date_gmt":"2016-03-01T12:02:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=194584"},"modified":"2016-03-01T12:02:56","modified_gmt":"2016-03-01T12:02:56","slug":"mahama-congratulates-young-actor-abraham-attah","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/03\/mahama-congratulates-young-actor-abraham-attah\/","title":{"rendered":"Mahama congratulates young actor Abraham Attah"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">President John Mahama has joined the long list of Ghanaians and other well wishers abroad commending and\u00a0encouraging young Ghanaian actor Abraham Attah, for his strides in the global film industry.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Attah has recently featured prominently on various global awards stages and picked some\u00a0nominations and awards including the best male lead at the Independent Spirit Awards and the<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>Marcello Mastroianni Award for Best Young Actor at the Venice film festival.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The icing on the cake perhaps was the opportunity to present an award at the Oscars.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He wore a customized pair of TOM shoes to the event and in return, the company will donate <strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2016\/02\/29\/abraham-attah-gets-10000-toms-shoes-for-needy-children\/\">10,000 pairs<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>to needy children in Ghana.<\/p>\n<div class=\"jeg_video_container jeg_video_content\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/mpKDf9NhSg4?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The move has attracted applause from a cross section of Ghanaians and President Mahama was also impressed.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The President said on Twitter, \u201cCongrats @AttahNii. The movie has since won several awards both in Ghana and Europe.<\/p>\n<p>Attah and Idris Elba have picked several individual awards. Over the weekend, the two picked up another award at the Film Independent Spirit Awards.<\/p>\n<p>Attah also had the rare privilege of being at the Oscars where he was selected to present an award.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Awards so far<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Attah has won the prestigious Venice International Film Festival\u2019s Marcello Mastroianni Best Young Actor Award, the National Board of Review Award for Best Breakthrough Performance, and the Black Film Critics Rising Star Award.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He also picked up two awards at the Ghana Movie Awards,\u00a0NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Actor in a Motion Picture, the\u00a0Independent Spirit Award for Best Male Lead and the\u00a0Critics\u2019 Choice Movie Award for Best Young Performer.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">More important for Attah however, is the fact that he has secured himself another movie\u00a0role via American director Shane Carruth\u2019s adventure film, \u201cThe Modern Ocean\u201d where he will be starring alongside Anne Hathaway, Keanu Reeves, <span id=\"cg_intext_rt_search_14\" class=\"cg-intext-span cg-intext-span-reset cgspnlink \" data-type=\"yahoo\" data-type-id=\"10\">Daniel Radcliffe<\/span>, Chloe Grace\u00a0Moretz, Tom Holland, Asa Butterfield and Jeff Goldblum.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He will also star in a short film titled \u201cOut of the Village,\u201d by a first time director called Jonathan Stein.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u2013<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">By Delali Adogla-Bessa\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>President John Mahama has joined the long list of Ghanaians and other well wishers abroad commending and\u00a0encouraging young Ghanaian actor Abraham Attah, for his strides in the global film industry.
