The three teacher Unions, which threatened a strike by close of Monday February 29,<\/span>\u00a0are expected to meet today [Tuesday], to deliberate on the way forward.<\/p>\n The crucial meeting is expected to discuss whether to strike or allow the current interventions by government to go\u00a0through.<\/p>\n [contextly_sidebar id=”6dtnS58ffL4YW3MjIAShWr1iLpFzemWo”]The \u00a0Ghana\u00a0 National\u00a0 Association of Teachers (GNAT), the National\u00a0 Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) and the\u00a0 Coalition of Concerned\u00a0 Teachers (CCT) \u00a0have over\u00a0 the past few\u00a0 weeks, raised concerns about\u00a0the\u00a0 non-payment\u00a0 of their\u00a0 allowances and salary arrears, and\u00a0 threatened to\u00a0 strike if government did not pay\u00a0 them by February 29, 2016.<\/p>\n In a move to \u00a0\u00a0avert the\u00a0\u00a0 strike, government last week, paid over GHc 1.5 million as part payment of the GHc16 million owed them.<\/p>\n There is also currently a validation process ongoing to ensure that the rest of the amount is paid.<\/p>\n But the teacher unions\u00a0say they need to meet today [Tuesday], to evaluate the situation and take the next step.<\/p>\n –<\/p>\n By: Pearl Akanya Ofori\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" The three teacher Unions, which threatened a strike by close of Monday February 29,\u00a0are expected to meet today [Tuesday], to deliberate on the way forward.
