President John Dramani Mahama was in Parliament on Thursday February 25, 2016, to deliver the State of the Nation Address.<\/p>\n

Among the many sectors he spoke about, he enumerated a\u00a0number of interventions and projects carried out\u00a0by government to improve the country\u2019s health sector.<\/p>\n

President Mahama said\u00a0currently the National Health Insurance Scheme’s (NHIS) subscription, has increased from 597,000 members in 2005, to 11.2 million in 2015, representing 41% of the country’s population.<\/p>\n

This he said\u00a0proved the\u00a0confidence reposed in the scheme by Ghanaians and\u00a0in the health sector, contrary to suggestions that the scheme is collapsing.<\/p>\n

President Mahama also said Ghanaians are living longer by 14 years.<\/p>\n
