{"id":192928,"date":"2016-02-24T15:00:40","date_gmt":"2016-02-24T15:00:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=192928"},"modified":"2016-02-24T15:00:40","modified_gmt":"2016-02-24T15:00:40","slug":"health-service-nadmo-others-discuss-bird-flu-control","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/02\/health-service-nadmo-others-discuss-bird-flu-control\/","title":{"rendered":"Health Service, NADMO, others discuss bird flu control"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A three-day training workshop to discuss ways to control Avian Influenza (bird flu) and other emerging diseases, is underway in Kumasi.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It is being organized by the Veterinary Services and sponsored by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) &#8211; Animal and Plant Inspection Service (APIS).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;GXOBnQwHFfZg1mz5uByWtTkXtZFZY7CB&#8221;]Officials of the Ghana Health Service, National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), Environmental Health Department of the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies, Ghana Private Veterinarians, Police and Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) are attending.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Drawn from three regions &#8211; Ashanti, Eastern and Brong-Ahafo, they will be taken through the epidemiology, diagnosis, surveillance and prevention of the influenza, depopulation of birds using the \u201cfoam\u201d technology and disposal of carcasses by composting.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Dr. Hanna \u00a0Bisiw, Deputy Minister for Food and Agriculture (MOFA), said the workshop could not have been held at a better time as it comes at a time when the nation is\u00a0still recovering from the outbreak of avian influenza.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">She applauded the technical cooperation and multi-sectoral approach to effectively contain and tackle any outbreak of the influenza, which had caused considerable damage to the poultry industry, especially in the Greater Accra.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8211;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Source: GNA<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A three-day training workshop to discuss ways to control Avian Influenza (bird flu) and other emerging diseases, is underway in Kumasi.
