The United Sates Embassy in Ghana has expressed its condolences to families of the victims of last Wednesday’s fatal accident in Kintampo.<\/p>\n
Over 60 lives were lost while several others suffered severe injuries when\u00a0a Metro Mass Transit (MMT) bus collided with a tomato truck on the Kintampo-Tamale stretch.<\/p>\n
[contextly_sidebar id=”AKXgahh0aBv63fLU8NDRuZ2R4Akfb5bx”]In a brief statement, the US Embassy said: “The Embassy of the United States of America\u00a0offers heartfelt condolences in the wake of the deadly accident on the Kintampo-Tamale highway.<\/p>\n
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and the families who have lost loved ones.”<\/p>\n
Bad road or careless driving?<\/strong><\/p>\n Various theories have been propounded as having caused the accident, with bad roads and recklessness on the part of the driver of the MMT bus being the most popular.<\/p>\n Initial investigations into the accident by the Brong Ahafo Regional Police\u00a0revealed that the driver of the bus had attempted to overtake at a sharp curve<\/a><\/strong><\/span>.<\/p>\n So far,\u00a048 victims of the 61 dead persons,\u00a0have been identified<\/a><\/strong><\/span> by their family members at the Kintampo mortuary.<\/p>\n
