Government has confirmed the death of the senior advisor to the President, Paul Victor Obeng.<\/p>\n

A statement signed by the Information and Media Relations Minister, Mahama Ayariga said: \u201cIt is with deep sorrow and profound regret that government announces the sudden death of Ing. Sir Paul Victor Obeng, the Chairman of the National Development Planning Commission and Senior Presidential Advisor.\u201d<\/p>\n

The statement disclosed that Mr Obeng \u201cpassed away this afternoon after being taken ill suddenly.\u201d<\/p>\n

Government also \u201cextends its heart-felt condolences to his wife, children and family.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mr Obeng served in the Rawlings administration and was a senior advisor to the late President John Mills and continued in a similar role under current President, John Mahama.<\/p>\n

Until his reported death, he chaired the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC) and was on Thursday acknowledged by the President as one of the people who played a crucial role in the just ended National Economic Forum at Senchi.<\/p>\n

He was the chairman of the <\/span>Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology<\/a> Council and\u00a0<\/span>the Chief Consultant and Chairman of OB Associates; a public and private sector consulting firm and also, the chairman of Ghana Agro and Food Company.<\/p>\n

P.V Obeng was a product of\u00a0Opoku Ware School<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology<\/a>.<\/p>\n

He also served as Chairman of the Ghana Investment Promotion Council (GIPC) from 1992- 1997.<\/p>\n

In addition, he was a director on the Board of Guinness Ghana Limited.<\/p>\n

Mr. Obeng was a\u00a0Mechanical Engineer<\/a>\u00a0and a politician.<\/p>\n
