President John Mahama has charged the Ghana Police Service to discharge its duties with professionalism as the country prepares for the November polls.<\/p>\n

According to him, the police should be prepared to\u00a0tackle\u00a0any threats to the country before, during and after the election.<\/p>\n

[contextly_sidebar id=”xlGjUjXnwMi4iU53suj9zLWizUeXMFlP”]President Mahama made these comments at the swearing-in ceremony<\/a><\/strong><\/span> of the Inspector General of Police, John Kudalor.<\/p>\n

He said \u201cI hope that you will raise the moral of the high command and the moral of the officers so that they can provide the security that this nation deserves.\u201d<\/p>\n

President Mahama reminded Mr. Kudalor that \u201cas you know we are in an election year which normally creates anxiety for people but I believe that knowing our Police service and the distinguished role you\u2019ve played since 1992 in all the elections we\u2019ve held, we all have no doubt that the Police service and your other security personnel will discharge yourselves creditably in a most professional manner so we once again have a very successful election and make Ghana continue to be the beacon of democracy in Africa.\u201d<\/p>\n

President John Mahama swore Mr. John Kudalor in as the Inspector General of Police (IGP) in a ceremony on Friday.<\/p>\n

Mr. Kudalor was appointed by the President to the position in an acting capacity in November 2015.<\/p>\n

He took over from the former IGP Mohammed Alhassan, who was to commence his accumulated leave prior to his retirement.<\/p>\n
