Barely a week after the late MP of the Abuakwa North constituency Joseph Boakye Danquah-Adu was killed, indigenes of the late MP’s constituency have served notice they will resist any attempt to bury him outside his hometown, Tafo.

On Tuesday, the late MP’s one week observation took place at Tafo, whereas the event was also replicated in Accra on Thursday.

[contextly_sidebar id=”HY5NF4Y9BhihNZcO34FanvB6BUA9q0Gy”]The Accra event was attended by Vice President Kwesi Amissah-Arthur, Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party, Nana Akufo-Addo and his running mate Dr Mahammadu Bawumia, Members of Parliament and other sympathizers.

Addressing the gathering at the funeral, the leader of the indigenes who only gave his name as Kofi, warned that they will not allow the late MP to be buried anywhere else apart from Tafo in the Eastern Region.

“We are from the Abuakwa North Constituency and JB was our everything. He is dear to the Okyeman state,” he declared.

According to the agitated indigenes, people like Kwadwo Baah Wiredu [former Minister of State] and Alhaji Aliu Mahama [former Vice President] were buried in their respective hometowns after they kicked the bucket and they feel their late MP deserves same.

“We know that when Kwadwo Baah Wiredu died, he was buried in his hometown… We want JB Danquah to be buried in Tafo. We are going to bury him in Tafo. We are going to bury him in Tafo and we are serious about that.”

Kofi, speaking on behalf of the group, also expressed skepticism about the Police initial investigations and further demanded the “real truth” behind JB Danquah’s death; “If we are not told the truth about the death of JB, then peace will not prevail,” he warned.
