Ghanaian Reggae musician, Rocky Dawuni, lost out on his bid to become the first Ghanaian and African to win the Best Reggae Album Grammy at the 2016 Grammy Awards.<\/p>\n

Dawuni, the only non-Jamaican artiste in the running this year, lost out to the band Morgan Heritage, in a field that also had Jah Cure, Barrington Levy and Luciano vying for the gramophone statuette.<\/p>\n

[contextly_sidebar id=”FvQq9H3XkopBKpzdPCszcMYwporRnyq4″]He was nominated for his album \u201cBranches Of The Same Tree\u201d at the worlds marquee music awards show. He bcame the first Ghanaian to have been nominated for the Grammys.<\/p>\n

The 47 year is known for his signature “Afro Roots” sound which is a mixture of Reggae, Afrobeat, Highlife and soul music.<\/p>\n

Morgan Heritage won the Grammy for his band’s acclaimed album titled “Strictly Roots” and\u00a0Dawuni congratulated the winning Reggae band via twitter.<\/p>\n
