The Ashanti Regional Security Council (REGSEC) has reviewed the curfew it imposed on the troubled Tafo township, a suburb in the Kumasi Metropolis of the Ashanti Region.

RECSEC placed a dusk to dawn curfew on Tafo last Wednesday following some clashes between the Muslim community in the area and the traditional authorities over a piece of cemetery land.

The security council on Friday reduced the curfew hours to span between 8pm-4am.

The clashes led to the death of 25 year old Aminu Suleman while scores of residents were wounded and property destroyed.

Already, some 40 persons have been arrested and screened in connection with the incident.

The attack extended to the destruction of property in churches and a mosque.

Meanwhile, the National Chief Imam, Sheik Usman Nuhu Sharubutu was in the area on Friday to calm tempers.

He had a meeting with the Ashanti Regional Chief Imam, Abdul Mumin, the Zongo Chief, Alhaji Seidu Chibsa and the chief of Tafo, Nana Agyen Frimpong II.

He however expressed worry about the developments at Tafo.
