AngloGold Ashanti has warned it may be forced to shut down its Obuasi mine completely if current impasse between it and illegal miners there is not resolved soon.<\/p>\n
Anglogold Ashanti early this week suspended its\u00a0essential services following clashes between illegal miners and\u00a0some of its staff, leading to the death of the company\u2019s Communication Director, John Owusu.<\/p>\n

Citi Business News has gathered the Police has partially withdrawn security men that were stationed on the company\u2019s concession to protect lives and properties.<\/p>\n
The situation according to AngloGold Ashanti has emboldened the illegal miners who currently have gone as far as invading some parts of the underground concession of the company.<\/p>\n
Speaking on Citi FM\u2019s consumer focus show \u201cBusiness Today\u201d Sustainability Manager of AngloGold Ashanti Nana Ampofo said the company may forced to shut its operation if the situation remains the same in the coming weeks.<\/p>\n
He rejected calls for the mining firm to cede off part of concession to the illegal miners.<\/p>\n
