\u201cThe matter was formally brought to the attention of the House by the Minority Leader of Parliament, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu soon after prayers were said. He said the house was not in the right mode to do businesses because of the death of their colleague and circumstances surrounding it. He further prayed the Speaker to adjourn sitting so they can commiserate with the bereaved family.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Speaker agreed with the Minority Leader\u2019s request and said \u201cwe must bond together and go and visit the family and the crime scene. The house is not in the right mood to do business.\u201d<\/p>\n
Majority Chief Whip and MP for Asawase, Mubarak Muntaka\u00a0seconded the motion saying he was extremely shocked when he heard the news of the MP\u2019s demise.<\/p>\n
Muntaka said he screamed loudly when he heard of the death of his colleague saying “we have really lost a friend and a colleague.”

Richard Dela Sky added that the MPs after the adjournment of the sitting moved in a long convoy to the house of the late MP.<\/p>\n
The New Patriotic Party MP was stabbed to death by unknown assailants at his residence at Shiashi in Accra on Tuesday dawn.<\/p>\n
Five persons including a private security guard and four others who live in the house, have so far been picked up by the Police for questioning.<\/p>\n
Earlier in the day, Parliament was thrown into\u00a0an atmosphere of sadness over the death of their colleague.<\/p>\n
Several\u00a0MPs who spoke to Citi News<\/strong> expressed shock at the incident.<\/p>\n Workers of Parliament and MPs were seen standing in groups discussing the incident. Minority members of parliament were clad in black to mourn the loss of their colleague.<\/p>\n About J.B Danquah<\/strong><\/p>\n The late Joseph Boakye Danquah, once served as a Deputy Minister for Women and Children\u2019s Affairs. He was the Abuakwa North MP from 2000 until 2008, when he lost the seat to the NPP\u2019s Prof. Samuel Amoako.<\/p>\n He returned in 2012 to win the seat.<\/p>\n He left behind\u00a0a wife and two children. Joseph Boakye Danquah, a chartered Accountant by profession, is the grandson of late J.B Danquah, a Ghanaian statesman, pan-Africanist, scholar and historian, who played a significant role in pre- and post-colonial Ghana.<\/p>\n –<\/p>\n By: Godwin A.
