Five persons including two women, and three men, have been arrested in connection with the murder\u00a0of the Member of Parliament (MP) for Abuakwa North, Joseph Boakye Danquah-Adu.<\/p>\n

The five include a private security guard who was in the house on the day of the incident.\u00a0The others are all residents of the house but the police did not give further details about their identity.<\/p>\n

The Accra Regional Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Afia Tenge, made this known at a news conference on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

The police hereby wish to solicit the support of the general public to get to the bottom of this incident as soon as possible. We need them to volunteer credible information to the police to unravel the mystery surrounding the death of the NPP lawmaker. Any developments regarding this unfortunate incident that will not compromise police investigations will be shared with the public through the media.\u201d<\/p>\n

She also announced that the residence of the MP has been cordoned off in the interim to allow a team of investigators carry out their work effectively.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs I speak to you now, a high team of police investigators comprising of crime scene analysts and homicide experts are presently at the scene for crime scene reconstruction and gathering of forensic evidence. For effective and efficient investigations, the residence of the deceased MP has been cordoned off.\u201d<\/p>\n

The MP was killed\u00a0at at dawn at his residence at Shiashi where he lived with his family.\u00a0The private security guard, according to Citi News<\/strong> sources says he did not hear\u00a0about the struggle before the MP’s death in his room.<\/p>\n

The police say they cannot immediately confirm whether the killing was carried out by robbers or that the attackers were there just\u00a0to kill him.<\/p>\n

Although the police are yet to give any details on\u00a0the matter, some neighbors who spoke to Citi News\u2019<\/strong> Fred Djabanor say no items were stolen from the house.<\/p>\n

The Greater Accra Regional Police Commander, COP George Dampare, together with a team of police officers and investigators, have been to the scene to pick the necessary leads in their investigations.<\/p>\n

Several bigwigs of the NPP<\/a><\/strong><\/span>, including acting Chairman Freddie Blay, have visited the house to get first hand information and also to commiserate with the bereaved family.<\/p>\n

Neighbors claims <\/strong><\/p>\n

In an interaction with some neighbors of the late MP, they told Fred Djabanor that they heard about the struggling between the MP and his attackers, which forced them out of their homes only to find out that he had been killed.<\/p>\n

They claimed to have seen a ladder behind the late MP\u2019s bedroom, which they suspect was used by the assailants. According to them, they saw a man run out of the house but he could not use the main entrance because they had by then called in the police who were stationed at the gate waiting to enter.<\/p>\n

About J.B Danquah<\/strong><\/p>\n

The late Joseph Boakye Danquah, once served as a Deputy Minister for Women and Children\u2019s Affairs. He was the Abuakwa North MP from 2000 until 2008, when he lost the seat to the NPP\u2019s Prof. Samuel Amoako. He returned in 2012 to win the seat. He left behind\u00a0a wife and two children.<\/p>\n

Joseph Boakye Danquah, a chartered Accountant by profession, is the grandson of late J.B Danquah, a Ghanaian statesman, pan-Africanist, scholar and historian, who played a significant role in pre- and post-colonial Ghana.<\/p>\n

J.B Danquah escaped similar attack in 2010<\/a> <\/strong><\/span>The late MP escaped a similar attack in 2010, although Citi News<\/strong> has no facts to suggest that the incident of 2010 is connected to the current one. In that attack, the MP sustained a deep cut on his arm.<\/p>\n

The assailants attacked him at a house at East Legon, believed to be his then girlfriend\u2019s house. In February 2013, three persons who were prosecuted for allegedly causing harm to the late MP in that attack, were convicted with fines.<\/p>\n

In that case, the married MP\u2019s girlfriend, was the one accused of plotting the attack on him over his refusal to give her money.<\/p>\n
