<\/p>\nThe Electoral Commission has inaugurated an election steering committee ahead of this year’s election scheduled for November.<\/p>\n
The committee, which has its members drawn from the various sectors of the country, is expected to coordinate the activities of the various stakeholders within the electoral process to ensure successful elections.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the event, the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Charlotte Osei, expressed was optimistic of\u00a0an incident-free election.<\/p>\n
The 18-member committee is chaired by Charlottee Osei.<\/p>\n

Election Security Task Force<\/strong><\/p>\n A National Election Security Task Force and a Technical Committee to ensure peaceful, free and fair elections, has also been inaugurated by the out-going Minister for Interior Mark Woyongo.<\/p>\n The task force is made up of\u00a0representatives of all public\u00a0security agencies, i.e. the Police, Military, Immigration, Fire Service and Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), representatives of the Electoral Commission, Research Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration and the Ministry of Local Government.<\/p>\n No new voters’ register<\/strong><\/p>\n A section of Ghanaians led by the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), had put pressure on the Electoral Commission to compile a new voters’ register before the November polls.<\/p>\n They claimed that the current register is bloated with names of foreigners and minors, and could not ensure a credible election.<\/p>\n However, the Commission after deliberations on the issue with all stakeholders said it will not compile a new register because arguments for the request\u00a0were not convincing enough.<\/p>\n –<\/p>\n By: Fred Djabanor\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" The Electoral Commission has inaugurated an election steering committee ahead of this year’s election scheduled for November.
