{"id":186764,"date":"2016-02-03T13:46:52","date_gmt":"2016-02-03T13:46:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=186764"},"modified":"2016-02-03T13:46:52","modified_gmt":"2016-02-03T13:46:52","slug":"court-orders-confiscation-of-dkm-microfinance-assets","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/02\/court-orders-confiscation-of-dkm-microfinance-assets\/","title":{"rendered":"Court orders confiscation of DKM microfinance assets"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A High Court in the Upper East Region\u00a0has ordered the Regional Police command to confiscate the assets\u00a0of DKM Diamond Microfinance Company in the region, for safekeeping\u00a0until the company refunds monies\u00a0owed their customers.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The court gave\u00a0the ruling on Wednesday\u00a0following the failure of the company to pay the plaintiffs a sum of GHC41, 850, as well as a cost of GHC6, 000 in an earlier ruling on January 12, 2016.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-186768 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/dkm-upper-east-bolga-2.jpg\" alt=\"dkm upper east bolga (2)\" width=\"667\" height=\"500\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The customers of DKM had dragged the company to court in a bid to reclaim their investments which had been locked up for some time now.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The plaintiffs, Napoleon Kuebutornye, Louis Kuebutornye and Albert XAXAYI through their lawyer, Richard Adazabr, prayed the court to help them recover their investments since all efforts to retrieve them had proved futile and had filed an ex parte motion for the company\u2019s assets to be confiscated.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The presiding judge at the Bolgatanga High Court, Justice Jacob Boon, upheld the application.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-186767 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/dkm-upper-east-bolga-1.jpg\" alt=\"dkm upper east bolga (1)\" width=\"685\" height=\"500\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Upper East Regional police executed the ruling few hours after the court ruling and conveyed the company\u2019s assets to the regional police headquarters.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In an\u00a0interview with <strong>Citi News<\/strong>, counsel for DKM, Richard Adazabra, explained that per the ruling,\u00a0the assets could be auctioned to defray the cost of the company if it delays further in repaying the investments.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The company is indebted to several other customers in the Brong Ahafo Region and other parts of the country.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0&#8211;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">By: Frederick Awuni\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A High Court in the Upper East Region\u00a0has ordered the Regional Police command to confiscate the assets\u00a0of DKM Diamond Microfinance Company in the region, for safekeeping\u00a0until the company refunds monies\u00a0owed their customers.
