The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is cautioning members of the various political parties to desist from engaging in violent activities, before, during and after this year’s election.

The party says such acts violate the principle of democracy and challenged the parties to collaborate with the police to ensure law and order this year.

[contextly_sidebar id=”0w5aiW8KERbqCQ5aZicDAmnf9TUw2tj9″]The Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the NDC, Ade Coker, made the remarks when the Accra Regional Police Command led by its commander, COP Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, paid a visit to the party at its regional headquarters.

Ade Coker noted that “it is not appropriate for political parties to engage in violence with the use of macho men to steal ballot boxes. Those kinds of things does not auger well for democracy. In other, jurisdictions elections are held without seeing policemen around. We must give the police maximum support in this endevour.”

The NDC Regional Chairman explained that because “elections are won at the polling station, all that we need to do is to sell our messages and if the good people of Ghana believe in our messages, they will vote for us peacefully and go home.”
