{"id":186585,"date":"2016-02-03T06:01:40","date_gmt":"2016-02-03T06:01:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=186585"},"modified":"2016-02-03T06:01:40","modified_gmt":"2016-02-03T06:01:40","slug":"were-not-a-nigerian-firm-kotoka-airport-security-firm-speaks-out","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/02\/were-not-a-nigerian-firm-kotoka-airport-security-firm-speaks-out\/","title":{"rendered":"We&#8217;re not a Nigerian firm; Kotoka Airport security firm speaks out"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Managers of Pathfinders International\u00a0Aviation Services, which offers security to airlines at the Kotoka International Airport, have denied claims\u00a0by<span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2016\/02\/02\/anger-over-nigerian-firm-offering-security-at-ghanas-airport\/\">\u00a0local security companies<\/a><\/strong><\/span>\u00a0 suggesting that government is risking Ghana&#8217;s national security and business interests by allowing a Nigerian firm to provide security at its international Airport.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Some Ghanaian security companies providing services at Kotoka International Airport (KIA) are enraged\u00a0over\u00a0a decision to\u00a0award a contract to a security firm they claim \u00a0its owned by Nigerians, to provide security services to airlines at the Airport.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;v8lfn6XYDlkYOYP98WmYwZihVyPFDdkT&#8221;]The local\u00a0security firms argue that allowing a foreign company to protect\u00a0Ghana\u2019s International Airport could pose a threat to the business interests of Ghanaian companies and to national security.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">They also alleged\u00a0that Pathfinders International Aviation Services has been operating without the requisite license for the last five\u00a0years.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">But the\u00a0Executive Director of Pathfinders International Aviation Services, Nana Kofi Gyamfi, a Ghanaian, rubbished the allegations in an interview on <strong>Citi Eyewitness News<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Mr Gyamfi explained\u00a0that his company is registered as a\u00a0Ghanaian firm and that he only has a Nigerian partner, adding that, all his staff are Ghanaians.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThe assertion that Pathfinders International Aviation Services Limited is a Nigerian company is totally untrue. Pathfinders is a Ghanaian incorporated company under the companies\u2019 code, ACT 179.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He pointed out that his company had received significant investments from Nigeria but indicated that the shareholder structure of his security firm should not worry Ghanaians as long as no foreigner is managing the security company.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;The company is being run, managed by Ghanaians. There is not a single person in the company that has any foreign origin,\u201d Mr Gyamfi assured.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Mr. Gyamfi further questioned why the local\u00a0companies would level such accusations against his company and accused them of being mischievous.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cI see no reason why we shouldn\u2019t allow Ghanaians who are operating their own companies in Ghana just because there is one investor who is a foreign national.\u00a0To posit that Pathfinder is a Nigerian company is a little bit under the belt,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Mr. Gyamfi insisted\u00a0his security company was indeed a Ghanaian firm\u00a0and said that people&#8217;s focus should only be about\u00a0their ability to help Ghanaians and fulfill their mandatory obligations.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;The fact still remains, is the company a registered Ghanaian company? Yes. Is the company able to pay its statutory obligations ?
