{"id":186540,"date":"2016-02-02T15:15:04","date_gmt":"2016-02-02T15:15:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=186540"},"modified":"2016-02-02T15:15:04","modified_gmt":"2016-02-02T15:15:04","slug":"facebook-owned-whatsapp-boasts-of-billion-users","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/02\/facebook-owned-whatsapp-boasts-of-billion-users\/","title":{"rendered":"Facebook-owned WhatsApp boasts of billion users"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Facebook-owned smartphone messaging service WhatsApp has hit the billion-user mark, according to the leading social network\u2019s chief and co-founder Mark Zuckerberg.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cOne billion people now use WhatsApp,\u201d Zuckerberg said in a post on his Facebook page.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThere are only a few services that connect more than a billion people.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Google\u2019s free email service, Gmail, is the latest of the Internet giant\u2019s offerings to crest the billion-user mark, chief Sundar Pichai said Monday during an earnings call.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The ranks of people using WhatsApp have more than doubled since California-based Facebook bought the service for $19 billion in late 2014, according to Zuckerberg.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThat\u2019s nearly one-in-seven people on Earth who use WhatsApp each month to stay in touch with their loved ones, their friends and their family,\u201d the WhatsApp team said in a blog post.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">After buying WhatsApp, Facebook made the service completely free.
