Newly elected Flagbearer of the Convention Peoples Party (CPP), Ivor Kobina Greenstreet, has told Citi News he will hold discussions with the party leadership on a possibility of wooing back the 2012 Flagbearer of the party, Dr. Abu Sakara.

Dr. Sakara, who led the CPP into the 2012 election, resigned prior to the party’s congress that elected Mr. Greenstreet, citing a number of reasons.

He explained among other things that his decision to leave the party, was borne out of what he calls a “personality cult club being built around the ambition of an individual.”

According to him, there is clearly an attempt to establish a dynasty in the CPP, where persons related to the party’s Founder and Ghana’s First President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, would have the sole right to lead the party.

“The sole purpose of this seems to begin a process of leadership by dynastic succession” a portion of Dr. Sakara’s resignation letter to the CPP said.

[contextly_sidebar id=”QdS2Oa74MCDhCN5nKTqSbddNgpHCp7Pa”]But speakiti News Franklin Badu Jnr., Mr. Ivor Kobina Greenstreet said an olive branch will be extended to Dr. Sakara for a possible comeback.

“I know he has some issues and there were some problems but I’m sure that at the right point in time I will have a discussions with him but these are party matters. I see myself as a flagbearer that means I bare the flag or carry the standard of the flag of the party. So decisions like these, I will discuss with the chairman and leaders of the party and see the way forward. We will have a discussion about what is the best in the interest of both of us and see how we can move forward,” he added.

Dr. Abu Sakara announced his exit from the party on January 5, saying he will contest as an independent candidate in the November polls.

He silently blamed Samia’s actions for his exit although some political pundits had suggested that he left the party because he feared the competition between him and Samia Nkrumah.
