{"id":183921,"date":"2016-01-23T07:15:21","date_gmt":"2016-01-23T07:15:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=183921"},"modified":"2016-01-23T07:15:21","modified_gmt":"2016-01-23T07:15:21","slug":"zanetor-suit-nii-armah-only-retaliating-after-ndc-primary-loss-lawyer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/01\/zanetor-suit-nii-armah-only-retaliating-after-ndc-primary-loss-lawyer\/","title":{"rendered":"Zanetor suit: Nii Armah just wants revenge after defeat &#8211; Lawyer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The lawyer for the Parliamentary Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the Klottey Korle constituency, Dr. Zanetor Rawlings,\u00a0has suggested that the recent suit filed against his client by the current MP Nii Armah Ashittey was done in retaliation because he lost the primary.<\/p>\n<p>Nii Armah Ashittey and Nii John Coleman have\u00a0<span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2016\/01\/22\/zanetor-rawlings-sued-again\/\" target=\"_blank\">filed a joint suit<\/a><\/strong><\/span> at an Accra High Court against the Electoral Commission and Zanetor challenging her eligibility to contest\u00a0for a parliamentary seat.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;dugVhTZFVjhzFx4GzUX83IPkeNiIIQzd&#8221;]Questions were raised when Zanetor was unable to vote in the primary because her name was not found in the register used in the elections.<\/p>\n<p>The plaintiffs argue that Zanetor&#8217;s win in the primary on November 21, 2015,\u00a0which they also contested, is not valid as she is not a registered voter.<\/p>\n<p>However, according to\u00a0Godwin Tamakloe, Nii Armah Ashittey and\u00a0Nii John Coleman did not raise objections to the candidature of Zanetor before she won the\u00a0primary in November.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;My client has always believed that she won a free and fair election, she\u2019s more than qualified, she has been qualified by the vetting committee of the NDC,&#8221; he said on <strong>Eyewitness News<\/strong> on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There has never been any petition from Nii Armah or John Coleman challenging her eligibility. If the two gentlemen had won the election against her, would they be in court? In law there&#8217;s something called good faith, you have to do things right &#8221;<\/p>\n<p>An Accra High Court, earlier in January, <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2016\/01\/15\/181925\/\" target=\"_blank\">dismissed\u00a0a case<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>filed\u00a0by some members of the NDC in the constituency seeking to annul the results of the parliamentary primary.<\/p>\n<p>Godwin Tamakloe believes that the crusade\u00a0against his client by the incumbent MP, who will to be unseated at the polls in November would be as unsuccessful as the one before it, as her win in the polls was &#8220;free and fair.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We want the proper thing to be done.
