The Chairman of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Prof. Edmund Delle says he still considers former flagbearer, Dr Abu Sakara as a member of the party.

Dr Sakara in a statement declared he has left the party and will contest the November general elections as an independent candidate.

[contextly_sidebar id=”rY1IDUAF4N5VepRto3kFLISJbgBJUUHQ”]He explained that he arrived at the decision following months of “contemplation” and “consultations.”

But Professor Delle told Citi News since Dr. Sakara is yet to officially communicate his decision to the party, he still considers him as a member of the party.

“As far as I am concerned, as a National Chairman, Dr. Abu Sakara has not given me his letter of his resignation and I can tell you on pure evidence that he must have tried to write it and bring it to us but the Council of Elders stopped him.

“We are trying all the time to talk to him but as a Chairman, I do not have any evidence that he has resigned and I have particularly said that I consider him a member of the party till otherwise stated…For me officially he is still a member and a valid party official as such.”

Dr. Sakara was the running mate to Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom in the 2008 elections, but was elected as flag-bearer when Dr Nduom left the CPP to found his own party, the Progressive People’s Party (PPP).
