<\/p>\nThe NDC Parliamentary candidate-elect for Ashaiman, Ernest Norgbey, has donated assorted items worth about Ghc1,000 and an undisclosed amount to a 90 year old woman whose house was affected by a demolishing exercise carried out by the Ashaiman Municipal Assembly last December.<\/p>\n
The 90 year old woman and his husband had their house demolished by the Ashaiman Municipal Assembly in an attempt by authorities to rid the Ashaiman irrigation Dam site of unauthorised buildings.<\/p>\n
About ten houses were pulled down during the exercise.<\/p>\n
In his quest to address the accommodation challenge being faced by the 90 year old frustrated woman, Mr Norgbey upon his visit announced he has purchased a piece of land at Zenu near Ashaiman to enable him put up a one room self-contain house for the woman.<\/p>\n

He said the construction of the building which will start as soon as possible is scheduled to be completed in three months from the day of start.<\/p>\n
\u201cI heard about the demolition exercise and I visited the site where I was touched by the plight of this old woman and her husband so I decided to extend assistance to them by putting up a one bedroom self-contain apartment for them. I have gone to the extent of purchasing the land already and the building will soon follow. As soon as the building starts, I am hopeful of completing it in not more than three months. I campaigned on the message of care and leadership so this gesture is a sign of the theme on which I campaigned\u201d Mr Norgbey noted.<\/p>\n
Mr. Norgbey was in the company of the Ashaiman constituency chairman of the NDC.<\/p>\n
He added that he has directed his research officer to take a head count the affected persons at the site to enable him extend some assistance to them.<\/p>\n
Mr. Norgbey used the occasion to advise the people of Ashaiman to desist from building at unauthorised places since it was against the laws and such buildings would be pulled down should they be found culpable.<\/p>\n

He also called on land dealers, agents and chiefs to stop selling government lands to innocent persons.<\/p>\n
On her part, the 90 year old woman, Maame Kumasi, expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the NDC party and its candidate for the kind gesture.<\/p>\n
\u201cOn behalf of my family, I want to thank you and the NDC party for this gesture and I pray that the house as promised will be ready in three months.\u201d<\/p>\n
She noted that currently, she is perching with a friend in an uncompleted wooden structure somewhere in Ashaiman.
