The Volta Regional Youth Wing of the National Democratic (NDC) has congratulated the President of the republic, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama on his appointment as a Co-chair of eminent persons to champion the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).<\/p>\n

The UN boss, Ban Ki-moon, who announced the appointment said the advocates would leverage their unique standing and leadership to promote the SDGs as part of an ambitious and transformative global agenda.<\/p>\n

[contextly_sidebar id=”eDV6Y3bv5TR62iiaTLp0yXY05Iv0wj6C”]The SDGs, which was a replacement for the Millenium Development Goals was adopted by world leaders at the United Nations summit in September, last year represents a commitment by all nations to work together to end poverty , achieve shared prosperity, peace, and secure a life of dignity and a healthy planet for present and future generations.<\/p>\n

President John Dramani Mahama’s role will include working as a champion of advocacy, to promote the universal character of the SDG which will also include the commitment to leave no one behind and work towards promoting the engagement of new stakeholders<\/p>\n

At a ceremony in the Volta region, the NDC \u2018s volta regional youth organizer , Egypt Kobla Kudoto said, \u201cWe see this honour done our President as a recognition of his immense contribution not only to the transformation of our country , but also the development the sub-region.<\/p>\n

The President displayed exceptional leadership skills in the management of the Ebola outbreak in the sub-region, and that won him a lot of recognition around the world.<\/p>\n

Egypt\u00a0added, \u201cunder his tenure as the chair of the sub-regional body , ECOWAS ,President Mahama provided the needed leadership that promoted peace, stability and security .<\/p>\n

“We in the youth wing in the Volta Region applaud our President for making our country proud and wish him well in this new assignment\u201d<\/p>\n
