The National Chairman of the People’s National Convention (PNC), Benard Mornah says\u00a0the United States are not to be trusted following government\u2019s decision to resettle the two former detainees from the American Guantanamo Bay Prison.<\/p>\n
[contextly_sidebar id=”mzZHFOEa8pFJcNQUraxOPNesP9rlzuzS”]The two former Guantanamo bay detainees, Mahmud Umar Muhammad Bin Atef and Khalid Muhammad Salih Al-Dhuby, had been in detention for 14 years, after being reportedly linked with terrorist group Al-Qaeda.<\/p>\n
Speaking on Citi Eyewitness News<\/strong>, Mr Mornah expressed disappointment with government\u2019s decision and pointed out America’s questionable foreign policy.<\/p>\n He even cited the alleged role the Americans played in the overthrow of then-president Kwame Nkrumah in 1966.<\/p>\n Mr Mornah said, \u201cI am totally disappointed that our government accepted these people particularly given the history of the United States and its involvement in destabilisation across the world.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIf we are looking for the number one terrorist in the world, you cannot escape the United States of America,\u201d he also added.<\/p>\n Mr Mornah believes the only reason the two Yemeni men were transferred to Ghana was because the American government is trying to avoid compensation for possible wrongful roiling and detention.<\/p>\n \u201cThey will start seeking for justice and maybe the United States will pay damages for wrongful profiling and what have you so, cleverly, they are taking them to countries were these people would not be able to seek justice.\u201d<\/p>\n He concluded saying, the arrangement that saw the two Yemenis transfered to Ghana was unacceptable.<\/p>\n \u201cToday we have to bear the brunt of it.
