{"id":180575,"date":"2016-01-10T11:32:47","date_gmt":"2016-01-10T11:32:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=180575"},"modified":"2016-01-10T11:32:47","modified_gmt":"2016-01-10T11:32:47","slug":"be-patient-with-fare-hikes-transport-council-to-drivers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/01\/be-patient-with-fare-hikes-transport-council-to-drivers\/","title":{"rendered":"Be patient with fare hikes &#8211; Transport council to drivers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Ghana Road Transport Coordinating Council (GRTCC) has appealed to drivers to be patient as the council looks at an upward review of transport fares.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Transport unions in the country met with officials of the Ministry of Transport <span data-term=\"goog_701518318\">on Thursday<\/span> in an attempt to review transport fares following the increment of fuel prices.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;U4Q1T7MFA88JMQlPuWMyawUCHnLxNaRq&#8221;]The announcement of an upward review in transport fares was subsequently rescheduled in anticipation of an <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2016\/01\/07\/transport-fare-hikes-to-coincide-with-new-road-tolls\/\" target=\"_blank\">increase in road tolls<\/a><\/strong><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">However, reports suggest that some commercial drivers have already increased their fares.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In an interview with <strong>Citi News<\/strong>, the acting General Secretary of the GRTCC, Andrews Kwakye, said that the delay in reviewing transport fares is because the council does not want to rush things.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThey should bear with us.
