One more person has been confirmed dead following the dynamite explosion in Nsawam.<\/p>\n
This brings to two, the number of confirmed deaths, the Nsawam Government Hospital confirmed to Citi News<\/strong>.<\/p>\n The latest death resulted from an accident involving a truck that was conveying injured persons.<\/p>\n On Wednesday December 23, 2015, dynamites exploded at a quarry site in Piabo in the Nsawam-Adoagyiri Municipality of the Eastern Region killing one person and injuring 12 other persons.<\/p>\n Security bodies investigating circumstances surrounding the location of these dynamites in the area are yet to establish the cause of the explosion.<\/p>\n The Eastern Regional Coordinator of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), Ransford Owusu Boakye, disclosed to Citi News<\/strong>\u00a0following the organisation\u2019s damage assessment process that, 1,236 people had been rendered homeless with over 200 homes, 3 factories, 2 mosques and one school (St. Martin\u2019s Senior High School) collapsed.<\/p>\n He intimated that the organisation would provide \u201croofing sheets, wood, clothing and food items\u201d but insisted that they could only provide relief services to \u201cthe most vulnerable ones\u201d; victims who could not take care of themselves without help from central government.<\/p>\n Though \u201csafe havens\u201d had been created by NADMO to accommodate the displaced residents and facilitate the supply of relief services, many victims had refused to take up the refuge.<\/p>\n This according to Ransford Owusu Boakye was hampering the supply of relief services which is expected to start within the first week of January 2016.<\/p>\n –<\/p>\n By: Sixtus Dong Ullo\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" One more person has been confirmed dead following the dynamite explosion in Nsawam.
