{"id":178987,"date":"2016-01-05T08:45:42","date_gmt":"2016-01-05T08:45:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=178987"},"modified":"2016-01-05T08:45:42","modified_gmt":"2016-01-05T08:45:42","slug":"water-shortage-mar-christmas-celebrations-in-ho","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/01\/water-shortage-mar-christmas-celebrations-in-ho\/","title":{"rendered":"Water shortage mar Christmas celebrations in Ho"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Residents of Ho,the Volta regional capital had a mirthless celebration of the Christmas season in 2015,\u00a0\u00a0as they bore the brunt of an acute water shortage in the municipality.<a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/IMG_20160104_083509.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-178993\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/IMG_20160104_083509.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_20160104_083509\" width=\"581\" height=\"400\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The taps stopped flowing for\u00a0four days ahead of Christmas and the situation has\u00a0remained till date, with no signs of a trickle.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Residents were seen carrying buckets, bowls and gallons on their head and in vehicles mostly at\u00a0dawn in fruitless search of water.<a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/IMG_20160104_081148.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-178994\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/IMG_20160104_081148.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_20160104_081148\" width=\"600\" height=\"368\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The few who were lucky fetched from dugouts, streams, ponds and wells at the outskirt of the town.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Sachet water producers cashed in on the\u00a0situation to make extra sales.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/IMG_20160104_080304.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-178996\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/IMG_20160104_080304.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_20160104_080304\" width=\"606\" height=\"404\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This situation coupled with the lip cracking and skin burning harmattan, affected the celebrations in Ho this time around.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Some residents\u00a0who spoke to\u00a0<strong>Citi News<\/strong>\u00a0said\u201cduring the festivities there was no water in town; especially those of us living on the storey building, it was difficult for us to get water.
