The Brong Ahafo Regional Police has arrested a 26-year-old man for car snatching.The young man, Halidu Seidu, is believed to be a beneficiary of the “Justice For All” programme.<\/p>\n
[contextly_sidebar id=”GyuUikkBpFbK1Fwt2u3VpmozvsAEAWKu”]The programme, which was introduced in 2007, is an effort by the Attorney General\u2019s Department, in conjunction with stakeholders, to decongest the prisons through the speedy adjudication of remand cases.<\/p>\n
The public relations officer (PRO) of the Brong Ahafo Regional Police Command, ASP Christopher Tawiah, narrated to Citi News<\/strong> how Halidu Seidu executes his operations.<\/p>\n “He organized with a friend that they should be snatching cars, which they succeeded in doing so in Sunyani. The car was moved to Techiman, where he alighted and the driver who was the only occupant was arrested, [and] he told us [Police] that Halidu Seidu is his accomplice.”<\/p>\n The PRO said “we traced Halidu and arrested him at his hideout at Kyiraa” and was taken to court where he has been remanded to reappear on\u00a0January 28, 2016.<\/span><\/p>\n ASP Tawiah however said that the release of suspects who are on remand under the Justice for all programme poses a challenge for police, as those released may come out with more additional knowledge\u00a0about criminal activities.<\/p>\n \u201cThis justice for all, where people are freed and they come out with more experience in crime, is a challenge to the police, especially we in the Brong Ahafo Region.\u201d<\/p>\n A beneficiary of the\u00a0\u201cJustice for all\u201d programme was arrested in Accra<\/a><\/strong><\/span> last month for also robbing cars from their owners.<\/p>\n –<\/p>\n
