The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) 2012 presidential candidate, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has added his voice to the global condemnation of the abduction of the over 200 Nigerian girls by the terrorist group, Boko Haram.<\/p>\n
Nana Addo in a series of tweets said, \u2018\u2019the abduction of at least 276 innocent Nigerian school girls is a great tragedy and an outrage.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n
Nana Addo who himself has five daughters condemned the act of Boko haram. \u2018\u2019I have five daughters and can imagine the anguish their parents are going through,\u2019\u2019 he tweeted.<\/p>\n
He expressed empathy to the families of the girls, Nigerian people and the Nigerian government.<\/p>\n
He went on to appeal to Islamic leaders across the world to \u2018\u2019put pressure on Boko Haram\u2019\u2019 to release the innocent girls.<\/p>\n
\u2018\u2019Let Islamic authorities, the world over, put pressure on Boko Haram to release these girls; this is not the way to go,\u2019\u2019 Nana tweeted.<\/p>\n
According to him everything must be done to ensure the safe return of the girls to carry on with their lives and education.<\/p>\n
The former Ghanaian legislature further said, \u2018\u2019it will be good to see the #AU<\/a> and #ECOWAS<\/a> exerting pressure to ensure a speedy resolution.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n He however, noted that it was a delight to see the World has woken up to its responsibilities in this matter [kidnapping of the school girls].<\/p>\n The abduction of the girls in Nigeria has led to some protests across Nigeria and other countries.<\/p>\n Some persons have also accused the Nigerian government\u2019s slow response to the incident.
