{"id":177276,"date":"2015-12-26T14:50:03","date_gmt":"2015-12-26T14:50:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=177276"},"modified":"2015-12-26T13:30:50","modified_gmt":"2015-12-26T13:30:50","slug":"railway-workers-continue-strike-after-failed-govt-promise","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2015\/12\/railway-workers-continue-strike-after-failed-govt-promise\/","title":{"rendered":"Railway workers continue strike after failed gov&#8217;t promise"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Striking railway workers have vowed to continue with their industrial action until all their grievances are addressed by government.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Railway Workers Union announced the withdrawal of passenger services from Accra to Tema and Accra to Nsawam last week [Friday, December, 18] following government\u2019s failure to pay their three-month salary arrears.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;RRRN8hiOnsdT4C7y81XjdkdwpZf4n32q&#8221;]The Railway Workers Union also demanded the immediate dissolution of board of directors of the company and salary adjustments for the workers before calling an end to their strike action.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2015\/12\/23\/striking-railway-workers-to-be-paid-before-christmas-govt\/\">Government had earlier resolved to pay <\/a><\/span><\/strong><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">the workers\u2019 salaries by Christmas day<\/span><\/span>, according to Deputy Transport Minister, Joyce Bawa Mogtari, on Wednesday December 22 but that has not happened according to the Railway Workers Union.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In an interview with <strong>Citi News<\/strong> General Secretary of the Railway Workers Union, Godwill Ntarmah said the salary arrears had still not been paid hence their resolve to continue with the strike action.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cWe\u2019ve suffered for a long time. It\u2019s so disgraceful. It\u2019s so annoying. We\u2019ve entered into 26th December and salary of railway workers have not been paid,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Mr Ntarmah further stated that \u201cyou think we should go on working for people to get their profit then we continue to go hungry?
