Wilfried Bony believes he should have started for Manchester City in their defeat at Barclays Premier League title rivals Arsenal on Monday. The Ivory Coast striker had scored three in four games while City\u2019s talismanic forward Sergio Aguero was missing with a heel injury.<\/p>\n
But Aguero was declared fit ahead of the clash at the Emirates Stadium and came straight into a side that was then beaten 2-1 by the Gunners.<\/p>\n
With manager Manuel Pellegrini\u2019s position already under increased speculation given Pep Guardiola\u2019s announcement he will be leaving Bayern Munich in the summer, City have now failed to win away in the Premier League since mid-September.<\/p>\n
And Bony has heaped more pressure on his manager after claiming he should have been tasked with leading the line at Arsenal instead of coming on around the hour-mark as an ineffectual Aguero departed. When asked if he deserved to be playing, the former Swansea forward said: \u201cI think so.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe (Aguero) is coming back from injury. He hasn\u2019t played for a couple of weeks. I\u2019m disappointed today that I didn\u2019t start but I\u2019m not the coach.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe coach does what he thinks is best for the team. I\u2019m sure everyone on the bench wants to play. He just has to choose 11 players.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo when I come on I just try to do my best to try to score or to give an assist to the other players to score to help the team to win.\u201d<\/p>\n
Bony, 27, arrived at the Etihad Stadium from Swansea in January for a fee of \u00a328million but has only started 10 league games in that time.<\/p>\n
He also revealed he would talk to Pellegrini about his position amid speculation regarding his own future.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat\u2019s my feeling today,\u201d he said when asked if he would air his views to his manager. \u201cWe have lost the game so we just have to be ready for the next game.<\/p>\n
I will continue to work hard and think about the next game, prepare very well then it will depend on the coach who he is going to put in.\u201d<\/p>\n
Bony was then asked if it summed up where he was in Pellegrini\u2019s thinking if he was dropped as soon as Aguero was deemed fit enough to start.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat\u2019s what I mean,\u201d he said. \u201cEveryone on the team wants to play but the coach has to choose 11 players. If it\u2019s good for the team like this it\u2019s okay. We go with that. Everyone must be ready to give 100 per cent.\u201d
