{"id":176582,"date":"2015-12-23T11:09:42","date_gmt":"2015-12-23T11:09:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=176582"},"modified":"2015-12-23T14:32:21","modified_gmt":"2015-12-23T14:32:21","slug":"power-minister-faces-assurance-committee-today","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2015\/12\/power-minister-faces-assurance-committee-today\/","title":{"rendered":"Power minister faces Assurance Committee today\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Power Minister Dr. Kwabena Donkor will today appear before the Government Assurance Committee in Parliament.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The committee summoned the Minister last week over his promise to end the ongoing load shedding exercise by the end of the year, or resign if he fails to fulfill the promise.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The assurances committee of Parliament\u00a0pursues all assurances, promises and undertakings given by Ministers and\u00a0reports to the House on the extent to which such assurances have been carried out.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;UhO72L2oqkDTWu6y0bXD2uzOT3X5TziK&#8221;]In an interview with <strong>Citi News<\/strong>, chairman of the assurances committee, Emmanuel Bedzrah, revealed Dr Donkor will be expected to brief the committee on the load shedding exercise.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He said, \u201cwe have basically invited him for anything that has to do with the load shedding and that is what will be asked from him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Mr. Bedzrah also added that members of the committee will not be restricted from asking any questions deemed relevant to the load shedding.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cIf we have any related matters, we cannot gag the members&#8230;any related matters that has to do with the load shedding, if he brings it up, our colleagues will be allowed to ask questions in that regard,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Dr Kwabena Donkor infamously stated, in an interview earlier in 2015 that he will resign from his position if he is unable to end the power crisis by the end of the year.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He\u00a0has since been heavily criticized over the \u00a0power situation that has further degenerated following his promise to end the \u2018dumsor\u2019 by the end of December 2015.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8211;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">By Delali Adogla-Bessa\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Power Minister Dr. Kwabena Donkor will today appear before the Government Assurance Committee in Parliament.
