{"id":176015,"date":"2015-12-21T13:58:01","date_gmt":"2015-12-21T13:58:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=176015"},"modified":"2015-12-21T13:58:01","modified_gmt":"2015-12-21T13:58:01","slug":"expresso-denies-halting-operations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2015\/12\/expresso-denies-halting-operations\/","title":{"rendered":"Expresso denies halting operations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Telecom operator Expresso has denied reports that it has shut down operations following its growing financial and operational challenges.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;lgcWfdjvfJH5kVee4SHmRyufsezaaaon&#8221;]Expresso which has the lowest voice and data subscribers in the country has been faced with several challenges for some time now.<\/p>\n<p>Majority of Expresso\u2019s challenges has been tied to its affiliation with Sudan and Sudatel which has made difficult to raise capital locally and internationally and deal with vendors.<\/p>\n<p>Two years ago Sudatel initiated moves to sell its shares in Expresso.<\/p>\n<p>It also gave the former National Security Coordinator, Colonel Larry Gbevlo-Lartey (retired) gave him the power of attorney to run the telecommunications company.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the move the telecom operator is still struggling to stay afloat<\/p>\n<p>Expresso\u2019s Chief Commercial Officer Freddie Quainoo tells Citi Business News is currently in negotiations with a number of local investors and will soon solve its challenges.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216; We have not shut operations, are lines are working, we are operating like a normal telco, yes we are having some challenges which is not too new in our industry however there a lot of discussions ongoing with some local companies and potential investors who have expressed interest in the company depending on how things go with the owners, the regulator and government.<\/p>\n<p>Hopefully very soon we will see the company recover from its woes.&#8217; He said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>By:\u00a0 Vivian Kai Lokko\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Telecom operator Expresso has denied reports that it has shut down operations following its growing financial and operational challenges.
