An Accra-based Advertiser, Casey Amese, has told Citi News that\u00a0the state could have generated Ghc500,000 monthly if it had allowed the 116 Metro Mass Transit Buses to be re-branded with commercial advertisement.<\/p>\n
Mr. Amese also revealed that per the realistic industry charges for the quality of work that was done on the buses,\u00a0the re-branding should\u00a0have cost GHc928,000 instead of the whopping GHc3,649,044 paid by government to the Smarttys Management and Productions.<\/p>\n
He however did not jump to the conclusion that government has no intention of selling out the space for advertisers.<\/p>\n

\u201cNow I would assume since these are the first set of the buses, government would want to advertise the former Presidents a bit before they start giving it out to advertisers going into the future,\u201d he told Citi Eyewitness News.<\/strong><\/p>\n He continued saying, \u201cI am not sure that the faces of our President will remain on that bus for more than two years. I am sure over a period of time they will take them off and start renting the space to businesses who want to get the mileage through the bus advertising.\u201d<\/p>\n Mr Amese is sure there are companies that will be willing to take up the cost of advertising because of the ground these buses will cover by virtue of their purpose as mediums of transport.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m assuming that these buses will be going to a lot of places so which company doesn\u2019t want to be seen up there as an advertisement,\u201d he said and added, \u201cAdvertisers would like to get this opportunity to sell the spaces on these buses to our clients so they get the mileage they deserve.\u201d<\/p>\n In his opinion, the advertising potential for these buses is at least GHc4000 per bus for a month.<\/p>\n \u201cIf I own these buses and they are strolling the streets of Accra in Ghana and I need to rent the space on it, I would be giving it out for not less than 4000 cedis a bus, for even a month, considering the mileage it is going to give to the companies that are going to be advertising on it.\u201d<\/p>\n He further stated, \u201cIf you take say, 4000 cedis times [multiplied] 116 buses, if you do the math you would realise we can generate a lot from that.\u201d<\/p>\n The potential monthly revenue from advertising on the buses, going by Mr Amese\u2019s estimates, translates to GHc464,000 a month.<\/p>\n –<\/p>\n By: Delali Adogla-Bessa\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" An Accra-based Advertiser, Casey Amese, has told Citi News that\u00a0the state could have generated Ghc500,000 monthly if it had allowed the 116 Metro Mass Transit Buses to be re-branded with commercial advertisement.
