donors seeking support from the blood bank go through in order to encourage more people to voluntarily donate blood to save lives<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Administrative Manager of the Coconut Grove Hotel in Accra, Ms Roberta Torkornoo, who made the appeal, said \u201cthe bureaucratic processes that donors go through while seeking assistance from the blood bank are too cumbersome and have to be reduced if we are to succeed in getting more people to donate blood to replenish the blood banks\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ms Torkornoo made this appeal during a blood donation exercise by the staff of Coconut Grove Hotels.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/blood-donation.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-174824 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/blood-donation.jpg\" alt=\"blood donation\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/blood-donation.jpg 600w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/blood-donation-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">She said the exercise, which was started five years ago through the inspirational leadership of Mrs Yvonne Nduom, Board Chairperson, saw a hotel staff in Accra as well as Elmina branch donate 60 pints of blood to support the Korle Bu Blood Bank.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ms Torkornoo said the annual exercise which forms part of the establishment&#8217;s corporate social responsibility would now be conducted twice every year.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/blood-donation3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-174837 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/blood-donation3.jpg\" alt=\"blood donation3\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">She said before the commencement of the exercise, a sensitization programme was conducted and staff were encouraged to donate because of the advantages they stood to gain if they donate to save lives.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/blood-donation5.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-174841 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/blood-donation5.jpg\" alt=\"blood donation5\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/blood-donation5.jpg 600w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/blood-donation5-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to Ms Torkornoo, staff were screened to help them know their health status and were also made to understand that \u201dat each pint of blood they donated led to the burning of 650 calories in the donors body and also reduced the lipid levels\u201d.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/blood-donation6.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-174842 aligncenter\"
