{"id":17477,"date":"2014-05-09T12:58:25","date_gmt":"2014-05-09T12:58:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=17477"},"modified":"2014-05-09T17:06:47","modified_gmt":"2014-05-09T17:06:47","slug":"afag-condemns-cid-investigations-on-mahama-tape","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2014\/05\/afag-condemns-cid-investigations-on-mahama-tape\/","title":{"rendered":"AFAG condemns CID investigations on Mahama tape"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Pro New Patriotic Party (NPP) pressure group, Alliance for Accountable Governance (AFAG), has condemned the Criminal Investigations Department (CID\u2019s) decision to investigate an alleged doctored speech by President John Mahama.<\/p>\n<p>According to the said tape which went viral in the mass media, President Mahama \u201cmade\u201d disparaging remarks about Ashantis, claiming they were ungrateful to his administration.<\/p>\n<p>The Ministry of Information later announced that the said tape was doctored to discredit President Mahama.<\/p>\n<p>The Criminal Investigations Department headquarters has since picked the matter up for investigations.<\/p>\n<p>However, President of AFAG, Dr. Nana Ayew Afriyie in a <b>Citi News<\/b> interview described the investigations as needless.<\/p>\n<p>He challenged the CID to be professional and neutral in handling such issues.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are not in a police state that the police will always be used to interfere into issues that affect the moral fabric of the society.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>He added, &#8220;I think this attempt by the police to interfere in this issue is absolutely needless.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Afriyie described as cover up attempts by the Ministry of Information to justify that the President\u2019s speech was doctored by releasing another tape meant to be the original.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>By: Abdul Karim Naatogmah\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Pro New Patriotic Party (NPP) pressure group, Alliance for Accountable Governance (AFAG), has condemned the Criminal Investigations Department (CID\u2019s) decision to investigate an alleged doctored speech by President John Mahama.
