A founding member of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Pianim has expressed his frustrations about what he said is the never-ending troubles within the party.

According to him, the NPP should channel its energies into forming a formidable campaign team to map up strategies to wrestle power from the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) and not washing their dirty linens in public.

[contextly_sidebar id=”P2gxH7puh77MPIZ3uouWZTgWIYh4ZYOk”]The party’s National Chairman, Paul Afoko, General Secretary, Kwabena Agyepong and Second Vice Chairman, Sammy Crabbe have all been suspended but the events leading to their suspension created bad publicity for the country’s largest opposition party.

Paul Afoko who argues that his suspension is illegal is in court seeking to be reinstated.

The suspensions have caused uncertainty in the party with many wondering how the party could win power with a divided front.

Meanwhile, speaking to the media on Tuesday, Kwame Pianim insisted that the NPP should quickly smoke the peace pipe and stop the unnecessary bickering.

“All the insults in the press, all the press statements should seize, let’s all get together and work together. We have a job. The presidential candidate should be empowered to select his campaign team and when we are in campaign mood it is the campaign manager which deals with the regional, constituency chairman and campaigns in the region to deliver victory. The national executive members are not at the forefront of that.”

On the suspension of Paul Afoko and his other executives, Kwame Pianim said; “I’m not saying that they should resume their duties, I’m saying every officer who is elected is elected. We are giving these powers to the campaign manager, selected by the flagbearer to exercise all these powers until we finish the election and then people can go back to their appointed positions.”

He also called for truce in the NPP saying “for the good of the nation let’s put these decision aside get a campaign manager and let’s get struggle to get the campaign going.”
