The Judicial Council has removed three more magistrates from office, without their benefits, after they were indicted in the recent corruption scandal.<\/p>\n

A statement signed by the Judicial Secretary, Alex B. Poku-Acheampong said the three \u201chave been removed from office without benefits following a resolution at its Emergency Meeting on Monday, December 7, 2015 on ground of stated misbehaviour under article 151(1) of the 1992 Constitution.\u201d<\/p>\n

[contextly_sidebar id=”eJ8fKRI2tF8EvD4W27Xf8nWWRlgrLCjJ”]Twenty (20) out of the 21 lower court judges caught on video taking bribes to influence judgment were removed from office last week.<\/p>\n

The statement added that\u00a0 the names of the three were left out from the announcement last week \u201cbecause letters informing them of the Judicial Council\u2019s resolution to remove them from office had not reached them at the time the announcement was made.\u201d<\/p>\n

They are:<\/p>\n

1.His Worship Kaakyiere Atta Owusu.<\/p>\n

2.His Worship Isaac Amoah<\/p>\n

3.His Worship Stephen Azuure<\/p>\n

The statement also added that Mr. Kofi Kyere, who is a High Court Registrar has also been removed from office without benefit for also being indicted in the corruption expos\u00e9.<\/p>\n

The statement noted that disciplinary action has been taken against the under listed junior staff, who are not Judicial Officers and were cited in the petition.<\/p>\n

    “They were investigated by a Committee set up by the Judicial Secretary in accordance with Regulation 27 (2) of the Judicial Service Regulations, 1963 (L.I. 319). They have subsequently been dismissed pursuant to section 17 of the Judicial Service Act, 1960 (C.A. 10).”<\/p>\n

    According to the statement, the decision to dismiss Peace Abuadzi (Circuit Court Registrar) and Daniel Dzata (District Court Registrar) have been confirmed by the Chief Justice in accordance with Regulation 27 (2) of the Judicial Service Regulations, 1963 (L.I. 319)<\/p>\n

    However, the statement said the “Disciplinary Committee did not establish any act of misconduct against Benjamin Agyepong, a driver of the Service, who was also cited in the petition by tigereypi. His interdiction has therefore been lifted with immediate effect.”<\/p>\n
