The Accra Regional Police Command has arrested the commercial bus driver who hit and killed a woman and her two grandchildren at Teshie, Accra.<\/p>\n
The Police had launched a manhunt for the driver and his conductor after they fled the scene of the crime.<\/p>\n
Speaking at a meeting with the bereaved family, Accra Regional Police Commander, COP Dampare, said the Police will do all they can to bring justice to the family following the arrest of the driver on Sunday December 13.<\/p>\n
[contextly_sidebar id=”woZuY2VzFX6I8S3CVGAKHZA2KAsvYCpI”]\u201cThe driver was arrested yesterday and is currently in custody. I have tasked the divisional police command to do all it takes to set the case for\u00a0court as soon as possible.\u201d<\/p>\n
COP Dampare urged caution on the part of road users during the festive season to avoid such incidents.<\/p>\n
\u201cChristmas is just around the corner and in the course of this festive period over the years, we\u2019ve had incidents of avoidable accidents leading to loss of precious lives.\u00a0We want to take this opportunity to advise all and sundry to exercise restraint during this festive period,\u201d he advised.<\/p>\n
He also charged passengers in commercial vehicles to speak up anytime they realize their drivers are\u00a0driving recklessly.<\/p>\n
\u201cI also would like to urge passengers who happen to be in vehicles, especially commercial vehicles that any point in time if any driver is driving in a way that you are not safe, please be bold and talk for that person to act responsibly.\u201d<\/p>\n
The commercial bus involved in the hit and run incident was believed to be carrying passengers.<\/p>\n
The children and their grandmother were returning from their grandfather\u2019s funeral at Kodeabe when they were hit and killed by the bus on the evening of Saturday December 12.<\/p>\n
The deceased were identified as 75-year-old Adwoa Ode, 10 year old Owusu Sekyere and 8 year old Jacklyne Owusu Sekyere.<\/p>\n
The three victims were reportedly crossing the road at the Southern Command Gate on the main Teshie-Accra road when the vehicle hit them.<\/p>\n
