{"id":173291,"date":"2015-12-10T11:00:02","date_gmt":"2015-12-10T11:00:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=173291"},"modified":"2015-12-10T09:25:57","modified_gmt":"2015-12-10T09:25:57","slug":"gra-urges-voluntary-tax-compliance-in-ghana","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2015\/12\/gra-urges-voluntary-tax-compliance-in-ghana\/","title":{"rendered":"GRA urges voluntary tax compliance in Ghana"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Commissioner General of the Ghana Revenue Authority, George Blankson, has reiterated calls for voluntary tax compliance in the country.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;0QR5srHQiPRUXJQ0BXhSc5DBz0NeEjeT&#8221;]According to him, this will increase the amount of taxes collected by the authority as more resources will be directed at clamping down on defaulting tax payers.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The GRA boss\u2019s comments come on the back of concerns over the lack of an effective voluntary tax compliance regime in Ghana.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">George Blankson was speaking at the launch of the New Income Tax Act 2015 (Act 896) here in Accra.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThe paramount objective of any tax administration is to encourage, facilitate, attain and maintain a high degree of self assessment and voluntary compliance by taxpayers with their tax obligations.
